Fill a large raised bed with soil, then set one
or more smaller beds on top and fill with soil.

There are many possible combinations of multi-level
or "terraced" beds for your landscaping ideas.

Terrace a slope

Place bricks or blocks under the down-slope edges of raised beds to level them and create a terraced slope.  The soil will not run out of the gaps on the ends.

Or, with a little shovel work, you can terrace the foundation soil for the raised beds.

Add a charming bench alcove to a path or walkway

Here's a landscaping idea that's easy to do.  All you need is a path in your yard.
Various shapes, sizes and combinations of raised beds can be used to create a beautifully flowered spot for a bench.
Multi-level beds can be used to good effect here.

Create a delightful garden spot at a path intersection

If you have a place in your yard where two paths or walks cross, the grass will invariably be worn down from people rounding off the corner when they turn to the intersecting path.

Make the intersection into a mini-garden with raised  beds that will invite people to enjoy the flowers.

In the drawing at right, the main beds are MSQ4 "modified squares".  You could also use "L shaped" beds or "Boat shapes" set at 45 deg. angles.

Create a garden entrance to your front yard

If you live in a city, you know that it's hard to keep
your lawn looking good in those corners where the
walk to your front door meets the sidewalk.

Use raised garden beds to create a flowered
entrance to your yard.  You could even mount
address numbers or a name board on the beds
(don't plant droopy plants directly above them).

There are lots of raised bed possibilities that you can choose for the entrance to your yard. The drawing above shows MSQ4 "modified squares" while the plan at left uses "L shaped" beds.  Squares or rectangles will work too.

Border your deck or patio with raised beds of herbs and flowers
